We have a limit to the amount of people we can invite and therefore we really need to know the number of people coming in advance. If you are interested in attending, could you please let us know as soon as possible via E-mail

SEARCHLIGHT WEBSITE |
Searchlight opposes racism and fascism in Britain and abroad.
It was founded in 1962 as an occasional publication and press agency specialising in gathering and analysing intelligence on the far right. Searchlight magazine has appeared monthly since 1975 and is the first port of call for activists, journalists, politicians and academics seeking information or organised racism in Britain. It exposes the fascists and racists' illegal activities and alerts the anti-fascist community to our opponents' intentions, plans and trends. Searchlight has been at the forefront of campaigning against the BNP in recent years. We believe that our locally customised newspapers, ward-specific leaflets, telephone canvassing and direct mail operation have made a real difference in defeating the BNP across the country. Working with dozens of local anti-BNP groups, Searchlight has mobilised thousands of people and is developing new coalitions that can defeat the British National Party and English Defence League and rebuild local communities.

If you have been on the receiving end of any racist hate crime, e.g. verbally or physically attack, discriminated against in the workplace, know of any person or establishment inciting racial hatred within your school, college, work, pub or club in any social or formal environment, please Contact Us to arrange a one to one confidential meeting to discuss your involvement in this project.
Sam Glazesbrook in a student at University of Falmouth studying film, photography and reporting. However, the project itself will not be affliated with the University of Falmouth, but through a personel interest and the sense of injustice he feels about those people living in Cornwall and suffering from racist abuse. Sam will be working closely with Unity to create a short film documentary that will highlight the adverse affects racism has on individuals, families and the commuity.

Unity Cornwall is to launch the Women 4 Change Engagement Project |
Unity Cornwall will be engaging women predominately from a Black, Minority and Ethnic (BME) background, including Mothers with Mixed-Heritage children - we hope to start with three separate groups initially. These groups will decide from themselves the type of services they would prefer to actively participate in. Activities will be supported by Unity and all its working partnerships. Individual plans will be work on and realistic targets set for each group in order from them to become an independent constituted community group - again, this can be achieved through partnership with Unity and other public and voluntary agencies.
Unity Cornwall recognises that any diversity issues that disadvantage individuals, further alienates individuals who are already isolated rurally and compounds experiences of racism and increase their own and their families' isolatoin from the mainstream society. We hope to tackle aspects of confidence and self-esteem and to help develop individual skills to be able to have an active role in the local community and with the ability to meet their own health, educational and social needs for themselves and their families. The Groups will be working on a model that will cascade the skills within the group into the community facilitating events to help raise cultural awareness and promote community cohesion.
If you would like more information about these developing groups, please contact us by telephone or email.
Unity Cornwall believes in equal opportunities for all people in our community.
