Unity Cornwall is to launch the Women 4 Change Engagement Project Print E-mail

Unity Cornwall will be engaging women predominately from a Black, Minority and Ethnic (BME) background, including Mothers with Mixed-Heritage children - we hope to start with three separate groups initially. These groups will decide from themselves the type of services they would prefer to actively participate in. Activities will be supported by Unity and all its working partnerships. Individual plans will be work on and realistic targets set for each group in order from them to become an independent constituted community group - again, this can be achieved through partnership with Unity and other public and voluntary agencies.

Unity Cornwall recognises that any diversity issues that disadvantage individuals, further alienates individuals who are already isolated rurally and compounds experiences of racism and increase their own and their families' isolatoin from the mainstream society. We hope to tackle aspects of confidence and self-esteem and to help develop individual skills to be able to have an active role in the local community and with the ability to meet their own health, educational and social needs for themselves and their families. The Groups will be working on a model that will cascade the skills within the group into the community facilitating events to help raise cultural awareness and promote community cohesion.

If you would like more information about these developing groups, please contact us by telephone or email.

Unity Cornwall believes in equal opportunities for all people in our community.
